Twins Jazz: A Legacy of Rhythmic Resonance Since 1987
Founders: Kelly and Maze Tesfaye
A cherished institution nestled in the heart of Washington, D.C., stands as a testament to the enduring power of music to shape communities and transcend generations.
Established by twins Kelly and Maze Tesfaye in 1987, this remarkable jazz haven has etched its name into the annals of the nation's capital, leaving an indelible mark on the city's cultural landscape.
The dynamic force behind Twins Jazz, Kelly, and Maze Tesfaye, are visionary entrepreneurs whose shared passion for jazz has not only enlivened the D.C. scene but has reverberated across the country. Born in Ethiopia and came United States in 1972. The Tesfaye twins have seamlessly interwoven their Ethiopian heritage with their deep appreciation for jazz, creating an eclectic fusion that characterizes the essence of Twins Jazz.
During the Pandemic of 2020, Twins Jazz, alongside many live music venues, closed their doors permanently. However, the legacy doesn't stop there. Twins is back with experiences and impactful initiatives helping the music community and the next generation of musicians through the non-profit- Twins Revival.
